Karen Slinkard, Health Services Director
As the Health Services Director for the Vistas Assisted Living and Memory Care Community, Karen is responsible for the oversight and quality assurance of health systems. Karen supports both the Assisted Living and Memory Care Resident Services Coordinators, and provides initial and on-going training and supervision for Medication Assistants.
Karen has been in the nursing field for twenty years. During that time she worked in Acute Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing taking care of multi-complex patients. She then had the wonderful opportunity to become a wound nurse. Karen found the ability to successfully impact the quality of a patient’s life through wound healing to be very rewarding. Karen is passionate about making a difference in the lives of elders and their family members affected by Alzheimer’s Disease. In 2008, Karen coordinated the Alzheimer’s Memory Walk in our community, bringing people together for a common cause.
Karen joined the Vistas family in 2010, bringing extensive knowledge of infection control with her. She has very high expectations for quality of care, infection control, and efficiency.
In her spare time, Karen enjoys jogging, swimming, and working out. She also loves gardening and spending quality time with her family.
