Frequently Asked Questions

The Vistas Assisted Living & Memory Care CommunityWhat is Assisted Living?
Assisted Living provides residents with just the right amount of assistance to allow him or her to maintain their independence - all within the comforts of home. Assisted Living provides a personalized alternative for seniors who need more assistance in their lives, but do not require the full-time attention associated with costly nursing homes or personal in-home care.

What is Assisted Living Not?
Assisted Living is not a nursing home. Our residents may be frail, need assistance with medications, meals, ambulation and other activities, but are not chronically ill. Assisted Living does not typically staff licensed nurses. At the same time, because Assisted Living is a residential model of care, residents have more choice and control over their living arrangements and activities than in the more institutional nursing home setting. Consulting with your doctor can help you know if Assisted Living is right for you.

How do I reserve an apartment?
Call (530) 222-8969 to reserve your apartment. $100 will hold the apartment of your choice while The Vistas is under construction. The $100 will be applied to your first month's rent, or will be completely refunded if your circumstances change.

When will construction be complete?
We expect that construction will be complete sometime in the fall of 2007.

Is there a buy-in? Do I have to sign a lease?
No there is no buy-in. The Vistas offers a month-to-month lease. There are no hidden costs or large up-front fees to pay.

How much are the move-in fees?
The community fee is the only move-in fee. The non-refundable community fee is $1000 and is due upon move-in. This fee covers the administrative costs associated with move-in including the Resident's health assessments & individualized services plans.

Do I have to give notice if I decide to move out?
Yes, we ask that you give us a 30-day notice, as you would with any living accommodation. Certain exceptions apply as outlined in the residency agreement.

Do you welcome residents in wheelchairs?
Yes. Our community and apartments are ADA accessible and our staff is trained to assist residents with transferring in and out of their wheelchair.

Are Residents allowed to have pets?
Yes. Because we value the time-tested connection people have with their pets, we invite you to have your small pet live with you at our community. We accept most small pets, and charge a minimal monthly fee.

If someone chooses to move to The Vistas, can they keep their own doctor?
Yes. In fact, The Vistas encourages continuity in relationships with all healthcare providers and will assist in making appointments and arranging for transportation. If needed, our staff will assist in contacting a new healthcare provider.

Do you provide skilled care?
The Vistas does not provide skilled nursing care, but Physical Therapy, Home Health, and Hospice may come in the community just as they would if the resident were in their own home.

Can you prevent residents from falling?
Unfortunately, no. It is important to be aware that no assisted living community or nursing home can prevent resident falls, which are regrettably part of the normal aging process and therefore a natural risk of living. While we staff resident assistants 24 hours a day, we cannot and do not provide one-on-one assistance or oversight 24 hours a day. Nor do we allow bed rails, which are considered a restraint. This means that there are times, whether in a resident's room, bathroom or even in the common areas, when a resident may experience falls.

What are your visiting hours?
When you live at The Vistas, it is no different than living at home - you and your guests are free to come and go as you please. The only exception relates to those residents with memory impairments living in our Memory Care Neighborhood; their access is limited for their own protection.
